Nominations Panel

The Nominations Panel was established by World Athletics to assist in the appointment of people to various bodies within the federation. The role of the panel is to identify the skills, expertise and experience which may be necessary for the positions on the relevant bodies.

The Nominations Panel is made up of the following members, who were appointed by the World

Athletics Council in December 2018:

  • Gordon Orlikow (CAN), Convenor
  • Vijay Makhan (MRI)
  • Chantal Brunner (NZL)
  • Catherine Thyra Forde (TTO)
  • Sebastian Coe, World Athletics President

Rob Clarke (GBR) was appointed as an independent secretariat to assist the panel. The Panel’s term of appointment will end at the conclusion of the next World Athletics Election Congress in 2023.


Biography - Gord Orlikow (CAN), Convenor

Gord has significant experience in both appointment processes and the sport of athletics. He works for Korn Ferry as a specialist executive level recruitment expert, and daily advises and supports Boards and CEOs in recruiting, assessing and appointing CEO/ senior employees and Board members. In sport he has had specific experience as Chair of the Canadian Olympic Committee Nomination Committee as well as leading various appointments processes in his previous capacity as President and Board Member of Athletics Canada. He is a former decathlete and has extensive experience and an understanding of athletics from a national federation, Area and world perspective having served at all levels.
