Budapest23: 300 days to go!

The World Athletics Championships Budapest 2023 are just 300 days away. This is an important milestone in the period leading up to the biggest ever sporting event in Hungary, as not only the preparation of the athletes is already well underway, but also the preparatory work of the organisers and the construction of the National Athletics Centre has been stepped up a gear.

As we get closer to the nine magnificent days from 19 to 27 August 2023, events are starting to heat up and the World Athletics Championships are coming to the forefront of people's minds. This is not a surprise, as it will be the biggest sporting event not only in Hungary but in the whole world in the year to come.

After returning from their hiatus following the 2022 outdoor season, the athletes have already started their preparations, a huge training effort that will ensure they will be in top form in ten months' time, facing a crowd of 35,000 spectators in the National Athletics Centre and a billion TV viewers around the world.

The construction of the new home of Hungarian Athletics is also heading for the finish line. The latest impressive feature of the capital's skyline, the roof structure is now fully completed and work is well advanced inside the stadium.

The go-ahead for the grassing of the stadium has also been given and the turf has been installed in recent days. It's still very smooth now, but we're looking forward to seeing some javelins, hammers and discus hit it as far as possible in the first competition - Bence Halász, Réka Gyurátz, Réka Szilágyi, Pawel Fajdek, Wojciech Nowicki and Kristjan Ceh will be doing their best to make it happen.

The asphalt below the "red carpet of world records", the Mondo-covered track, has just been completed and will soon be followed by the rubber mat itself, on which we hope to see more world records and national records next summer, thanks to Sydney McLaughlin, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Karsten Warholm, Noah Lyles, Luca Kozák and many others.

The temporary grandstands are already under construction, which will more than double the stadium's capacity for the duration of the World Championships. This will allow even more people to admire the greatest figures from the queen of sports.

There won't be long to wait for the tickets either, which are scheduled to go on sale in late November/early December. It also means that this year no one will have to think too much about what Christmas present their loved ones should get. Next summer's World Athletics Championships will definitely be an experience that no one will want to miss!
