Flash Interviews: 110 Metres Hurdles Final

GoldXiang LIU, CHN

I was a little bit nervous at first. After my silver in Helsinki two years ago, I had to win the gold. Running lane 9 was both good and bad. It forced me to run my own race and showed that I'm a person with self-control. My start and finish were not so good, but that doesn't matter, since the result is good. I want people know what kind of speed I have. This is number one speed. There's nothing I can't do. Now I will have even more pressure than before, but this is something I will need to get over to keep going.

Silver - Terrence TRAMMELL, USA

Even if I won the silver, I feel like I missed the gold. I felt like I could win, but Liu just had the better race - I am making no excuses. There will be more races in the future. As far as Bejing is concerned, I am confident that it will be different then. I did the best I could, I gave my best and ran under 13 seconds. This is my second fastest time, so I cannot be disappointed. I am excited. It is cool.
For the most part, I ran the race I wanted to. I made some slight mistakes at the end. In 2005 I was fifth, now I am second - I am moving in the right direction.

Bronze - David PAYNE, USA

I cannot believe. Only some 45 hours ago I learned I could run. I ran fairly well in the race. I knew when I would stay with Liu, I can finish strong. I'm so excited. That makes up for my disappointments during the season, first that I initially did not made the team and then only silver at Pan Am Games. This is like redemption. Ooh and the time, so close to 13 flat. Unbelievable. My next goal is the 12. This medal is for my mother and grandmother, they always supported me and stayed with me.
