Tokyo 25 LOC
On 24 January 2024, World Athletics President Sebastian Coe took time out of his busy schedule during his stay in Tokyo to visit the office of the Local Organising Committee of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 to offer words of encouragement to the committee staff, who are making dedicated efforts to prepare for the event. In addition, the office is located close to the Japan National Stadium, where heated battles of the Championships will take place.
President Coe delivered a message that was both powerful and inspirational. “I’m pleased to see you all today,” he began, continuing: “The World Athletics Championships is a tremendously challenging sporting event. Over the next 18 months or so, let us all show consideration and support towards our fellow team members and work to overcome the numerous and inevitable challenges we will face. You are making history now, and will make history again in 2025. So good luck and I have the one last request. Make sure next year's world championships is the best championships ever. Thank you.
CEO Jon Ridgeon and CCO Dalton Odendaal accompanied President Coe on his visit, adding their own cheerful words of support.
WCH Tokyo 25 will be held from 13 to 21 September 2025.
