A 26-strong Spanish team – including world indoor and Olympic triple jump medallist Ana Peleteiro and European 3000m record-holder Adel Mechaal – has been selected for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Belgrade 22 on 18-20 March.

Peleteiro claimed bronze in Birmingham in 2018 and went on to win a medal of the same colour at the Tokyo Olympics, while Mechaal recently became the area record-holder for the 3000m and has decided to focus on that event in Belgrade rather than double with the 1500m.

Among those joining them in Serbia will be world indoor 800m bronze medallist Saul Ordonez, who this time contests the 1500m along with Ignacio Fontes, while Alvaro de Arriba, Mariano Garcia and Lorena Martin take on the four-lap event. Marta Perez is entered for the 1500m and 3000m, while three-time European medallist Jorge Urena goes in the heptathlon and Maria Isabel Perez the 60m.
