Men 200m Semi-Final

FacebookTwitterEmail

The men’s 200 metres final promises to be a showdown between Jamaica’s Usain Bolt and Michael Grant, from the United States.

Grant has a point to prove after he was disqualified for a false start in Saturday’s 100m semi-final, and he looked impressive in winning the first of three 200m semi-finals this morning in 20.96se.

All three races were run into the teeth of a biting headwind, measuring up to 3.2 metres per second by the time of Bolt’s qualification race, which the World Junior champion won apparently effortlessly in 21.08.

Jamahl Alert, of Britain, won the second semi-final in 21.25, and his team mate Andrew Watkins also qualified for the final, running 21.59 behind Bolt.
