World marathon fourth-placer Callum Hawkins and recent trials winners Chris Thompson and Stephanie Davis are among the first seven members of the athletics squad selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Callum Hawkins and Charlotte Purdue will head the British squad for the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships Gdynia 2020 on 17 October.
With 100 days to go until the IAAF World Championships London 2017, British Athletics has today confirmed its selections for the men’s and women’s marathon and the men’s 50km race walk.
Eunice Jepkirui Kirwa of Bahrain and Callum Hawkins of Great Britain notched convincing victories at the 71st edition of the Kagawa-Marugame Half Marathon, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, on Sunday (5). Kirwa, the pre-race favourite, clocked 1:08:07 to win by 20 seconds while Hawkins clocked 1:00:00 to win by nearly a minute.
Uganda's Moses Kipsiro and Kenya’s Edna Kiplagat topped the podium after claiming convincing victories at the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, in Glasgow on Sunday (4).
