Sunday, the ninth and closing day of the IAAF World Championships held in Moscow at the Luzhniki Stadium, will bring in bits of everything: throwing (the women’s Javelin final), jumping (the men’s Triple Jump), sprinting (the men’s and women’s 4x100m Relays) and distance running (the men’s 1500m and women’s 800m finals.) And, of course, host-country favourites and Usain Bolt, the running themes of the championships.
USA’s Alysia Johnson Montano, the second-fastest runner this season of those present in Moscow, was the gun-to-tape winner of the first semi-final, winning in a fast time of 1:58.92 and naturally pulling the two time qualifiers to the final from her heat.

The 2013 Moscow Championships were held at the South sports complex of Luzhniki stadium on Wednesday and Thursday (3-4) and were one of the final test events before the IAAF World Championships are held in the Russian capital next month.
There is little more than six weeks to go before the start of the IAAF World Championships, Moscow, Russia, which take place from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 August, and the current generation of Russian athletics heroes is sure to enthral the crowds in the Luzhniki stadium.
