Ukraine’s High Jump star Bohdan Bondarenko was in the spotlight at the 49th edition of the Palio della Quercia meeting in Rovereto, the oldest Italian meeting still in existence, held on a warm and sunny evening on Tuesday (3).
Ethiopia’s Mohammed Aman may have tactically got his race wrong 12 months ago at the London 2012 Olympic Games but his race plan worked perfectly at the IAAF World Championships and he was able to add this title to the 2012 World Indoor Championships gold medal, covering two laps of the track in the Luzhniki Stadium in 1:43.31.
Ethiopia’s Mohammed Aman looked impressive and confirmed his status as the slight favourite for the men’s 800m with an assured outing in 1:44.93, the fastest time by far of the six heats in the morning’s first round, and also the third fastest first round heat in the history of the IAAF World Championships.
From an international perspective, much of the attention at the Oxy High Performance meeting in Eagle Rock was understandably on Great Britain’s Olympic hero Mo Farah but he was rather upstaged by US prodigy Mary Cain on Friday night (17).
