World leaders Christian Coleman and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce form part of two strong 100m fields at the Prefontaine Classic, part of the IAAF Diamond League, which will take place in Stanford on Sunday (30).
In 2018 Coleman broke the world indoor 60m record, won world indoor 60m gold and ended the season with the fastest time in the world, 9.79. After finishing second at the Prefontaine Classic in 2018 in a wind-aided 9.84, the 23-year-old returns to this year&rsquo;s edition off the back of two world-leading marks: 9.86 in Shanghai and 9.85 in Olso.
This weekend he will face a field full of sub-10-second performers, two of whom have bettered that barrier this year.
Cravon Gillespie recorded lifetime bests of 9.93 for 100m and 19.93 for 200m on the same day to finish second in both events at the recent NCAA Championships.
European champion Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain is undefeated at 100m this year and heads to Stanford with a season&rsquo;s best of 9.97, just 0.06 shy of his lifetime best.
The field also includes world champion Justin Gatlin, prolific sub-10-second performer Michael Rodgers, 2018 NCAA champion Cameron Burrell, 2018 Jamaican champion Tyquendo Tracey and Italian record-holder Filippo Tortu.
The women&rsquo;s 100m may not be a scoring discipline in Stanford, but that hasn&rsquo;t affected the quality as all eight women in the field have previously bettered 11 seconds and four of them have sub-10.80 PBs.

Multiple world and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who became a mother in 2017, is back to her best. At the recent Jamaican Championships she posted times of 10.73 and 22.22 &ndash; her fastest times since 2013 and just a whisker away from her lifetime bests.
The 32-year-old won the Prefontaine Classic 100m in 2013 and 2015 so will be looking for a third victory this weekend.
But the experienced Jamaican will be up against one of the newest and most exciting sprint talents.
Sha&rsquo;Carri Richardson, aged just 19, won the 100m in 10.75 and placed second in the 200m in 22.17 at the NCAA Championships earlier this month, breaking the world U20 records in both events (pending ratification).
The teenager has since turned professional and this will be her first race since her record-breaking feats at the NCAA Championships.
Double world silver medallist Marie-Josee Ta Lou, who won last year&rsquo;s Pre Classic, will be back, so too will her Ivorian compatriot Murielle Ahoure, the 2018 Diamond League champion.
Two-time Pre Classic winner English Gardner, US champion Aleia Hobbs, world indoor bronze medallist Mujinga Kambundji and Olympic finalist Michelle-Lee Ahye are also in the loaded field.

That&rsquo;s it.
Richardson, a 19-year-old from Dallas, bettered two world U20 records* at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on Saturday (8).
She won the 100m in 10.75, setting a collegiate record and breaking the 42-year-old world U20 record of 10.88 by Marlies Gohr. In Usain Bolt style, Richardson raised both arms in victory five metres from the finish.
The collegiate record of 10.78, set at altitude at Provo, Utah, had been held by Dawn Sowell since 1989. Richardson&rsquo;s previous best was 10.99.
Kayla White was second in 10.95 and Twanisha Terry third in 10.98. Times for places 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 were all the best in NCAA history.
Richardson&rsquo;s time was fastest in the world since Olympic champion Elaine Thompson of Jamaica ran 10.71 in June 2017. The teenager climbed to ninth on the world all-time list. And she was not finished.

In the 200m, Richardson could not overtake Anglerne Annelus, who retained her title. &ldquo;I really wanted to back up the title,&rdquo; Annelus said in an ESPN2 interview.
To thousandths of a second, Annelus&rsquo; time was 22.160 to Richardson&rsquo;s 22.169.
Annelus&rsquo; 22.16 is a world leader. Richardson&rsquo;s 22.17 betters under the world U20 record of 22.18 set by Allyson Felix at the 2004 Athens Olympics. (Felix clocked 22.11 at altitude in Mexico City in 2003, but the mark was unratified because organisers did not arrange for doping control.)
The three fastest collegiate women of all time represent Louisiana State University: Richardson, Sowell and Aleia Hobbs (10.85 last year).
&ldquo;I did want to continue the legacy, and I&rsquo;m happy I was able to do something for my team,&rdquo; Richardson said on ESPN2.
Drama in the team race vanished when Southern California&rsquo;s third runner in the 4x400m, 400m hurdles winner Anna Cockrell, stumbled coming out of the last turn and had the baton dislodged. USC and Arkansas were tied with 56 points before the final event. Arkansas&rsquo; second-place relay finish secured the team title, 64-57. LSU was third with 43 points.
With temperatures climbing to 36C, sprinters were as sizzling as the men were on Friday.
Texas A&amp;M won the 4x400m in 3:25.57, faster than the previous world lead of 3:25.72 set by the victorious US team at last month&rsquo;s IAAF World Relays Yokohama 2019.
USC won the 4x100m in 42.21, under the world lead of a 42.51 by the US team at the World Relays &ndash; and 0.12 off LSU&rsquo;s collegiate record. LSU, anchored by the hard-charging Richardson, was second in 42.29.

Janeek Brown was another history-maker. The 21-year-old won in a Jamaican record of 12.40, a world leader and just 0.01 off Brianna McNeal&rsquo;s collegiate record. She was second in the 200m in 22.40, achieving the best such one-day double ever.
Behind Brown, Channel Brissett was second in a world age-19 best of 12.52 for sixth on the collegiate all-time list. Tonea Marshall, who beat Brown at the Texas Relays on this track, was third in 12.66. Cockrell was fifth in 12.80 before winning the 400m hurdles in 55.23.
Elsewhere, Sinclaire Jackson set a championship record of 4:05.98 in the 1500m, overtaking defending champion Jessica Hull with a 62.68 last lap. Hull, a 22-year-old Australian, was second in 4:06.27. Great Britain&rsquo;s Hannah England had held the record of 4:06.19 since 2008.
Allie Ostrander won an unprecedented third straight 3000m steeplechase title in 9:37.23. Jenny Simpson won the steeplechase three times, but not consecutively.
Wadeline Jonathas won the 400m in a Haitian record of 50.60, while Laulauga Tausaga won the discus with a throw of 63.26m.
Ashtin Zamzow, 11th last year, scored 6222 to win the heptathlon for the host Texas Longhorns.
Jamaica had two more champions: Jazmine Fray, 2:01.31 in the 800m, and Shardia Lawrence, who produced a final-round leap of 13.99m to move from third to first in the triple jump. France&rsquo;s Yanis David, the long jump champion, was second with 13.93m.
Attendance for the two days of finals was 11,037 for the men on Friday and 10,163 for the women Saturday.

Richardson makes history with NCAA sprint double

A flurry of speedy sprint performances headlined both NCAA Preliminaries as US collegiate athletes attempted to book their spots at next month&rsquo;s NCAA Championships by placing among the top 12 in their events.
Sha&rsquo;Carri Richardson of Louisiana State University was one of the standout performers at the East regionals in Jacksonville, Florida. The teenager had been denied potential 100m PBs on five separate occasions this year due to excessive tailwinds, but the conditions on Friday (24) &ndash; the second day of the three-day championships &ndash; finally cooperated.
She won the 100m in 10.99 (0.7m/s), becoming just the third US U20 woman in history to better 11 seconds for the distance, moving to equal fourth on the world U20 all-time list.
Richardson followed her 100m win with 200m performances of 22.67 and 22.74, booking her place at the NCAA Championships in that event too. Cambrea Sturgis was fastest overall in the 200m, clocking 22.52 (1.0m/s).
Florida&rsquo;s Grant Holloway advanced safely through the 110m hurdles, winning his heat in 13.10. Regional rival Daniel Roberts of Kentucky was close behind, though, recording 13.13 to win his heat and setting up a mouth-watering clash at the NCAA Championships.
Following his 400m PB of 44.38 three weeks ago, Trevor Stewart impressed over one lap of the track with 44.55 and 44.77 to emerge as the top qualifier in the East.
There were fast times in the shorter sprints too. Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Amoah of Coppin State topped both rounds of the 100m, clocking a PB of 10.10 (1.2m/s). He was closely followed by Japan&rsquo;s 2015 world U18 champion Hakim Sani Brown, who recorded 10.13 (0.7m/s)
LSU&rsquo;s Jaron Flournoy led the 200m qualifiers with 20.09 (1.4m/s) while Sani Brown was second overall once again, clocking a PB of 20.13 to move to third on the Japanese all-time list.
Elsewhere, Jeanine Williams won the 100m hurdles in a slightly wind-assisted 12.62 (2.3m/s), Quincy Hall was a comfortable leader in the 400m hurdles with 48.54, and Anderson Peters dominated the javelin, throwing a best of 80.06m.
Just a few hours after Richardson had sped to her 10.99 clocking at the East Regionals, Teahna Daniels of Texas matched that mark in the 100m at the West Regionals in Sacramento.
The 22-year-old shaved 0.07 off the PB she set two years ago and was comfortably the fastest qualifier ahead of world U20 silver medallist Twanisha Terry (11.14).
Daniels followed it with a PB of 22.51 in the 200m but was only the third fastest overall in that event behind NCAA champion Anglerne Annelus and Janeek Brown, both of whom set PBs of 22.36 (1.8m/s) and 22.47 (0.6m/s) respectively. Brown had clocked a wind-assisted 12.71 in the 100m hurdles just 35 minutes prior.
Chanel Brissett, fastest in the 100m hurdles with a wind-assisted 12.69, later teamed up with USC teammate Annelus to win the 4x100m in 42.84.
Divine Oduduru, the fastest collegian this year in the men&rsquo;s 100m and 200m, easily advanced in both events. He clocked 10.06 in the 100m to finish second overall behind Cravon Gillespie, who recorded 10.01 and 10.03.
Oduduru then placed second overall in the 200m with 20.08 behind Texas Tech teammate Andrew Hudson (20.04). The duo later teamed up to win the 4x100m in 39.00, just 0.03 ahead of an Oregon squad that featured Gillespie on the second leg.
Other highlights in Sacramento included Kahmari Montgomery&rsquo;s 400m win in 44.78, Adrian Piperi&rsquo;s shot put triumph in 20.83 and Laulauga Tausaga&rsquo;s 62.69m win in the women&rsquo;s discus.
