WADA has completed its amendment to Section S2.1 of the 2014 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods.
Hypoxia-Inducible Factor (HIF) activators Xenon and Argon have been added to the 2014 prohibited list, following the required three-month notice period and UNESCO’s communication to all States Parties.
The recommendation to revise the list was made and approved by WADA’s Executive Committee during its May meeting.
The change to the list reads as follows:
S2. PEPTIDE HORMONES, GROWTH FACTORS AND RELATED SUBSTANCES
The following substances, and other substances with similar chemical structure or similar biological effect(s), are prohibited:
1. Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents [e.g. erythropoietin (EPO), darbepoetin (dEPO), hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) stabilizers and activators (e.g. xenon, argon), methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta (CERA), peginesatide (Hematide)].

La Liste des interdictions de l’AMA modifiée, en vigueur à compter du 1er septembre 2014
L’AMA a entériné sa modification de la Section S2.1 de la Liste des Substances et méthodes interdites 2014.
Les activateurs du facteur inductible par l’hypoxie (FIH) tels que le xénon et l’argon, ont été ajoutés à la Liste des Substances interdites 2014, au terme de la période de préavis de trois mois et la communication par l’Unesco à tous les États signataires.
La recommandation de réviser la Liste a été faite et approuvée par le Comité exécutif de l’AMA lors de sa réunion de mai.
La modification apportée à la Liste est décrite ainsi:
S2. HORMONES PEPTIDIQUES, FACTEURS DE CROISSANCE ET SUBSTANCES APPARENTÉES
Les substances suivantes, ainsi que d’autres substances présentant une structure chimique similaire ou un (des) effet(s) biologiques similaires, sont interdites:
1. Agents stimulants de l’érythropoïèse [par ex. érythropoïétine (EPO), darbépoétine (dEPO), stabilisateurs et activateurs de facteurs inductibles par l’hypoxie (HIF) (par ex. xénon, argon), méthoxy polyéthylène glycol-époétine béta (CERA), péginesatide (Hématide)].
