IAAF World Championships Moscow 2013 Fantasy Athletics competition is now open

The IAAF World Championships Moscow 2013 will take place between 10-18 August, and the world’s greatest athletes are starting to converge on the Russian capital as they attempt to be crowned as global champions. Now fans can get be even more immersed in the action with our IAAF Fantasy World Championships game.

Throughout 2013, the IAAF Fantasy Diamond Race has offered athletics fans all over the world the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the sport by predicting which athletes will perform best at each of the IAAF Diamond League meetings.

The IAAF Fantasy World Championships game works in exactly the same way, as players are required to identify a squad of athletes who they believe are destined for glory in Moscow.

Each squad must be composed of eight  male and eight female athletes, one of whom is the designated team captain. Athletes can be selected from any who have entered the Championships in any event, but only two athletes from the same nation can be picked.

Athletes score points depending upon their final positions and whether they produce World, area or championship records, with the team captain scoring double.

To achieve success, players will need to research athletes’ form at IAAF Diamond League and IAAF World Challenge meetings, know which championship records are poised to fall, and predict which athletes will rise to the occasion.

The close competition expected on the track and in the field in Moscow is expected to be matched on computer screens worldwide.
