British athletics writer Nigel Whitefield dies

The IAAF is saddened to learn of the death of British athletics writer Nigel Whitefield, who died on March 1 aged 52.

Among other posts, he was the athletics correspondent for Today, covering the 1988 and 1992 Olympics before the paper closed down, and was a prolific contributor to Athletics Weekly during the 1980s.

He had recently been in a medically induced coma following complications after a kidney transplant operation.
