The IAAF announces the conclusion of a further worldwide sponsorship agreement with the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), China’s largest oil refiner, producer and seller of chemical products. The deal was brokered by Dentsu, IAAF's worldwide marketing partner.
Under the terms of the deal that runs through 2015, Sinopec will become the worldwide official partner of the IAAF and its World Athletics Series in the category of 'oil and natural gas'. Sinopec is the 7th largest corporation in the Fortune 500 list in 2010.
In addition, Sinopec will directly provide additional financial support to the IAAF for its Continental Programme joining Samsung and Adidas. This recent initiative has been introduced to support IAAF’s Area Associations and Member Federations with the sponsorship of IAAF Official Partners.
In 2010, Sinopec was recently the title sponsor of the IAAF/Sinopec World Half Marathon Championships and an official partner of the IAAF/VTB Bank Continental Cup, which were held respectively in Nanning, China, and Split, Croatia.
With this new agreement, the IAAF now has seven confirmed official partners for the 2011 World Championships, Daegu, Korea (27 Aug to 4 Sep). In addition, the deal provides further evidence of the internationalisation of the IAAF's sponsorship portfolio.
Sinopec, a leading corporation in the field of petrol/energy, has the world's third largest sales network of petroleum products. It is the largest refiner in China and the world's third largest refiner since 2008. Sinopec has been actively participating in their role in sports development and this involvement in Athletics will add more responsibility.

Sinopec devient partenaire officiel de l’IAAF et de sa Série Mondiale de l’Athlétisme
Monte-Carlo - L’Association Internationale des Fédérations d’Athlétisme (IAAF) a le plaisir d’annoncer la conclusion d’un accord de partenariat supplémentaire avec le groupe pétrolier chinois China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec). Le contrat a été négocié par Dentsu, l’agence marketing de l’IAAF.
Selon les termes de cet accord qui court jusqu’en 2015, Sinopec devient le partenaire mondial officiel de l’IAAF et de sa Série Mondiale de l’Athlétisme dans la catégorie ‘pétrole et gaz naturel’. Dans le magazine Fortune, Sinopec apparait en 7ème position dans la liste des 500 entreprises les plus riches.
Sinopec apportera en outre un soutien financier direct aux programmes continentaux de l’IAAF, rejoignant ainsi Samsung et Adidas. Cette récente initiative a été introduite pour soutenir les associations continentales et les fédérations membre de l’IAAF grâce à nos partenaires officiels.
En 2010, Sinopec est déjà devenu sponsor en titre des Championnats du monde Semi-Marathon ainsi que partenaire officiel de la Coupe Continentale de l’IAAF/VTB Bank, qui se sont respectivement déroulés à Nanning en Chine, et à Split en Croatie.
Avec ce nouveau contrat, l’IAAF détient dès à présent les sept partenaires officiels des Championnats du monde de Daegu en Corée (27 aout - 4 septembre 2011). De plus, cet accord met en relief la diversification du portefeuille de sponsors de l’IAAF.
Sinopec qui est leader dans le domaine du pétrole et de l’énergie, occupe le troisième rang mondial pour la vente de produits pétroliers et dérivés. C’est le groupe pétrolier chinois le plus important et depuis 2008, le troisième au niveau mondial. Sinopec s’est beaucoup investi dans le monde sportif et ce nouvel intérêt pour l’athlétisme lui confère plus de responsabilité encore.
