Palo Alto, California, USALate in the evening after the IAAF Grand Prix II events had concluded at the Oracle meeting at Stanford University, a very fast women’s 10,000m took place in the ‘Olympic Development events’ portion of the competition programme.
Ethiopia's reigning World Cross Country long course champion Werknesh Kidane set a new US women’s All-comers 10,000m record with her winning time of 30:41.40, which betters the previous standard of 30:48.89 by Japan's Yoko Shibui from the 2002 Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto. Ethiopia's Ejegayehu Dibaba was the runner-up in 31:02.72.
