It has been many years since there was a major international athletic meeting in Malmo but top class athletics will return to the Swedish city on August 19, 2014, and the organisers have signed up none other than Usain Bolt.

The Jamaican legend and current World record holder for 100m and 200m has never committed to a meeting so far ahead before.

”It is very unusual for me to commit to a meet so far ahead, but I like to support new meets and I’m looking forward to be a part of Malmo Games, and competing there in August 2014,” said Bolt, who will confirm which event he will run next year.

In the much nearer future, Bolt will run over 200m at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Oslo on Thursday, where he will be looking to impress after his surprise defeat over 100m in Rome last Thursday.
