Biography
2004 Olympic champion, Carolina Klüft was born in Boras, Sweden, on 2 February 1983. She won her first World Junior title in Santiago de Chile in 2000 and two years later the IAAF 2002 Rising Star award following an extraordinary season during which she won the World Junior and European senior Heptathlon titles, and set two World Junior and three Swedish records.

In 2003, she added 398 points to her Swedish indoor record to win the World Indoor Pentathlon title and ended a faultless season by winning the Heptathlon at the World Championships in Paris with 7001 points, the third best score of all-time. At the 2004 World Indoor Championships she opted to compete in the Long Jump and went home with a bronze medal.

In Athens 2004, she won her first Olympic medal (gold!) with more than 500 points to spare. Klüft opened her 2005 campaign with a superb win at the European Indoor Championships; she now has a full collection of gold medals!

Engaged to pole vaulter Patrick Kristiansson, Carolina Klüft has recently made public her full commitment to humanitarian projects.
