Charfreitag is Slovakian Athlete of the Year for third time in a row

Hammer thrower Libor Charfreitag has been voted Slovakian Athlete of the year for the third consecutive time.

In the poll of officials, coaches and journalists he got 260 points. Clear before the walker Peter Korcok (149), new-Slovakian triple jumper Dmitrij Valukevic finished third. The best woman was the 800m runner Lucia Klocova as fifth.

Charfreitag was 9th in Helsinki and so earned the best Slovakian placing at World Championships. He was also sixth at the World Athletics Final and is also the highest placed Slovakian Athlete in IAAF World Rankings (8th position). He missed the celebration because as usual in this time of the year he is in Dallas, USA.
