Host nation Colombia will field 39 athletes at the IAAF World Youth Championships, Cali 2015, its largest ever contingent for the global under-18 competition.

As the host nation, Colombia is entitled to select one athlete in each event, regardless of whether the qualification standard has been achieved. But of the 39 athletes on the team, 24 have met the qualifying standards in their respective events.

South American youth champions Maria Fernanda Murillo and Johana Patricia Arrieta are among the country’s best hopes of a medal in the high jump and 800m respectively.

Triple jumper Leydi Marcela Cuesta and race walker Maria Fernanda Montoya are also expected to perform well.
