Germany’s two-time world shot put champion David Storl is the latest big name to confirm that he will compete at the Indoor Meeting in Karlsruhe, the opening IAAF Indoor Permit Meeting of this winter's series,on 1 February.

In 2012, Storl’s outing in Karlsruhe provided a good rehearsal for his performance at the IAAF World Indoor Championships five weeks later, when he finished second behind the USA’s Ryan Whiting.

This time around, Storl hopes a win the German city will put him on the raod to victory at this year’s championships, which will be held in the Polish city of Sopot from 7-9 March.

In addition to the Shot Put, the other men’s disciplines in Karlsruhe will be the Pole Vault, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m and 3000m. Women will compete in the Long Jump, 60m, 60m Hurdles, 1500m and 3000m.
