vaulter Tim Lobinger has been forced to call off a tour of the United States due to a thigh injury and is now targeting the start of June for a return to competitive action.

The Cologne jumper has been diagnosed with a thigh strain and will work on regaining his fitness without risking a more serious injury.

The 31-year-old Olympic hopeful said on Monday that he will be out of action until the end of May when he hopes to compete in Hengelo (31 May).

"I'm not going to be fit again in the next eight days so it would make no sense to compete in Modesto on May 8," he said.

The World Indoors champion from 2003 picked up the injury on his season debut in Rechberghausen on May 1, where he was forced to retire from the competition after just two jumps.
