World and Olympic champion Brittney Reese will be challenged by an incredible long jump field at the Prefontaine Classic when she returns to the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Eugene on 30 May.

Between 2009 and 2013, USA’s Reese won six successive global titles. In between winning her three World Championships titles, she also won Olympic gold and two world indoor titles. She is also the only woman to have twice won the Diamond Race in the long jump.

France’s Eloyse Lesueur was the most accomplished long jumper in the world last year. She won the world indoor title in Sopot, and then followed it with the gold medal at the European Championships and victory at the IAAF Continental Cup.

USA’s Tianna Bartoletta won the Diamond Race in 2014, improving her PB to 7.02m in the process. The 2005 world long jump champion is also an impressive sprinter – she has won two bronze medals in the 60m at the World Indoor Championships, finished fourth in the 2012 Olympic 100m final and ran the lead-off leg for the world record-breaking US 4x100m team at those Games.

Ivana Spanovic is the defending Prefontaine Classic champion. The world bronze medallist indoors and out recently won the European indoor title with an outright Serbian record of 6.98m.

Russia’s Darya Klishina is a two-time European indoor champion. She is one of a select group of women to have jumped farther than seven metres both indoors and outdoors.

Commonwealth bronze medallist Christabel Nettey has made a stunning breakthrough this winter. The 23-year-old started the year with a PB of 6.75m but has since set an outright Canadian record of 6.99m indoors.

Shara Proctor won the Diamond Race in 2013. The outdoor British record holder took bronze at the 2012 World Indoor Championships and then went on to win at the Prefontaine Classic later that year.

USA’s Funmi Jimoh won her first national title last week in Boston. The 30-year-old reached the final at the 2008 Olympics and has represented the USA at three editions of the World Championships.
