The 46th Golden Spike Meet of Ostrava, which is a Grand Prix status meet as part of IAAF World Athletics Tour 2007, has announced that 2003 World sprint hurdles champion Perdita Felicien of Canada will meet with reigning World champion Michelle Perry (USA).

The Canadian was also the World Indoor champion in 2004 and winner in Ostrava in the same year, achieving a 12.67 time against a strong wind, so just missing the meet record for the 100m Hurdles by only 0.02. This year together with Perry she will attack the nearly 27-year- old meeting best of 12.65 set by Grazyna Rabsztyn of Poland (1980). The record was equalled by Bridgette Foster of Jamaica in 2003.

The men’s 110m sprint hurdles will have the current world season leader David Oliver from USA (13.22). The American achieved his best of 13.20 in Slovakia last August and is currently is in shape of his life. He wants to qualify for Osaka and on his web blog has a nice motto: “Your Mission: 12.87“.

The women’s 800m has attracted three European champions. Jolanda Ceplak from Slovenia won in Ostrava back in 2003 and is the continental champion from 2002 and the World indoor record holder. Russian Olga Kotlyarova was the winner from last summer’s championships in Gothenburg, while another on show will be Russian Oksana Zbrozhek, the 2007 European Indoor champion.
