Holm and Ingberg to chair European Athletics Athletes Commission

Olympic High Jump Champion Stefan Holm (Sweden) and former World and multiple European Javelin medallist Mikaela Ingberg (Finland) have been named chairman & chairwoman respectively, of the European Athletics Athletes Commission, after the initial meeting of the commission was held in Lausanne recently.

Holm, who will be hoping to successfully defend his European indoor title in Birmingham in March said “I feel it is really important that athletes have a voice in how our sport is organised and presented, and I have ambitions for this commission to be very active throughout our term”

32 year-old Ingberg, who is nearing the end of her career as a top class athlete said, “It is really important that athletes know we exist and take a proactive approach in contacting us and giving us their thoughts about the future of the sport”

The commission, which was elected by their fellow athletes at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg last August is comprised of:

Stefan HOLM (SWE, High Jump)
Mikaela INGBERG (FIN, Javelin)
Ivet LALOVA (BUL, 100m)
Laurent OTTOZ (ITA, 110m H, 400m H)
Manuel MARTINEZ (ESP, Shot Put)
Monika PYREK (POL, Pole Vault)
Simon VROEMEN (NED, 3000m St)
