Organisers of the Hypo-Meeting have added several global and continental medallists to the fields for the IAAF Combined Events Challenge meeting in Götzis on 27-28 May.
Two-time world indoor silver medallist Oleksiy Kasyanov will be making his fourth Götzis appearance, having finished fifth in 2009, sixth in 2011 and failing to finish in 2010. The Ukrainian, who has a decathlon PB of 8479, will be chasing the World Championships qualifying standard of 8100 after falling short by just 23 points last year.
European silver medallist Adam Sebastian Helcelet is one of four strong Czech decathletes set to compete in Götzis. The European indoor bronze medallist will be joined by 2014 world U20 champion Jiri Sykora, 2015 Kladno winner Marek Lukas and European U20 champion Jan Dolezal.
There will also be a significant Estonian presence at the Hypo-Meeting. Two-time NCAA champion Maicel Uibo has a personal best of 8356 and will be making his Hypo-Meeting debut. Fellow Estonians Janek Oiglane, the European under-23 bronze medallist, and Kristjan Rosenberg, the national champion, will be heading to the Austrian town in search of their first 8000-point score.
Polish Olympian Pawel Wiesiolek will also be returning to Götzis, the scene of his 8140 PB from 2015.
Czech record-holder Eliska Klucinova leads the latest additions to the heptathlon field. The 2015 European indoor bronze medallist has a heptathlon PB of 6460 and has competed at the past six editions of the Hypo-Meeting.
She’ll be joined by compatriot Katerina Cachova, the 2007 world U18 champion who enjoyed a breakthrough last year to win in Kladno with a lifetime best of 6328.
Others in the field include European youth champion Alina Shukh, Katsiaryna Netsviatayeva of Belarus, and Estonian duo Grit Sadeiko and Mari Klaup.
