The Netherlands’ greatest present athlete Lornah Kiplagat, the reigning World Cross Country champion and Road Running champion is out of the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Osaka, Japan (25 Aug to 2 Sep).

Kiplagat has an injury to her right calf which occurred during the FBK Games in  Hengelo, at the end of May, where she ran a 5000 metres in spikes.

The injury plagued her again during a road race at London earlier this month where she did not finish, and Kiplagat has not been able to train the last three weeks.

After consulting her doctor Peter Vergouwen she has decided not to run in Osaka, where she planned to contest the 10,000 metres.

Kiplagat firsts want to recover fully and will than concentrate on preparation for the defence of her World Road Running title to be held on 14 October in Udine, Italy.
