Prague, Czech RepublicThe World record holder in the men’s javelin Jan Zelezny is feeling well after surgery at the Homolka hospital. Today he will be released to go home.

At the beginning of the week, the medical team under Doctor Chrobok dealt with the growth on Zelezny's rib which was causing him pain. Due to this condition he was unable to throw well at the European Championships in Munich, and he was already suffering discomfort prior to the Grand Prix meeting in Stockholm on 16 July.

"I´m feeling well and everything went according to the plan. Now I will have 14 days of rest and then we will see with the doctors when I will be able to start my preparation for next season. Of course I want to have my usual training camp in South Africa starting at the beginning of the year," said Zelezny.

The three time World and Olympic champion has an average distance in all competitions since 1986 of an extraordinary 85.50 metres. The average of his ten best throws is 94.65 metres, and nobody else has ever been able to throw farther than that distance even once!
