Lunani the giraffe was unveiled on Wednesday (2) as the official mascot for the World Athletics Relays Silesia21, marking 150 days to go to the event.

Lunani, in fact, will be the ‘captain’ of the mascot team and will be joined by three other yet-to-be-revealed mascots, all of whom will have a real-life equivalent at the Silesian Zoo, located just one kilometre away from the Slaski Stadium, competition venue for the World Relays on 1-2 May 2021.

The World Athletics Relays Silesia21 will represent one of the final opportunities for Olympic qualification and a qualifying meet for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22.

Next year’s event will be the fifth edition and the first to take place in Europe. The previous hosts were The Bahamas (three times) and Yokohama, Japan.
