Rabat, Morocco - The third edition of 'La Course de la Victoire', this year with the theme "Running in Freedom", was marked by the participation of more than 22,000 girls and women from all walks of life.
The participants readily responded to the invitation of the former 400m Hurdles double world champion (1997 -2001) Nezha Bidouane to take part in the women's 8Km race, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco.
In a festive atmosphere participants ran and walked through the main streets of the Moroccan capital Rabat in the first gathering of its kind in Morocco and the Arab-Muslim world.
The competition, which involved more than just a sporting aspec but also as a symbol of the emancipation of Moroccan women, was enhanced by the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports Moncef Belkyatt, the mayor of Rabat and the secretary general of the Moroccan Olympic Committee and former Moroccan champions in various disciplines along with many other sports personalities and politicians.
One of the highlights was the start of the race for athletes under the "Special Olympics Moroc" flag, whose participation was massive this year. Women from the National Mutual Aid institutions, colleges and high schools in the capital, students from private and academic institutions and the diplomatic corps were also in attendance.
After the race prizes and trophies were awarded to winners in different categories as well as to the youngest (two years old) to the oldest, who was 68. The winner of the professional race was Malika Assahsah, which finished oohed of Zhor El Kamch.
For Bidouane, president of the association ""Femmes, réalisations et valeurs", or Women, Achievement and Values, this edition achieved its objective to bring together a large number of participants to raise awareness of the importance of sport as a tool to social and professional integration. Bidouane explained that this event also aims to encourage women to join the Moroccan national sports movement in general and particularly to contribute to the development of women's sports.
Bidouane stressed that the remarkable success of this competition "encourages us to redouble our efforts to do better in future editions." She added that the association will organize other women's races in Chefchaouen and Fez, respectively 9 and 23 May, in addition to another race in Laayoune whose date has not yet been set.
Bidouane's association organizes charitable operations, deals with families and the needy, ill children, school assistance to children in need and the organization of sports activities.

Plus de 22 000 participantes pour la Course de la Victoire organisée par Nezha Bidouane à Rabat
Rabat, Maroc – La troisième édition de La Course de la Victoire - dont le thème cette année était "La course en toute liberté" - a attiré plus de 22 000 jeunes filles et femmes de tous horizons sociaux.
Les participantes avaient toutes répondu avec enthousiasme à l'invitation de Nezha Bidouane, double championne du monde du 400m haies (en 1997 et 2001), pour venir s'aligner au départ de cette course de huit kilomètres réservée aux femmes, organisée sous l'égide de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI, roi du Maroc.
Les participantes ont couru et marché sur le parcours, qui sillonnait les rues et artères principales de la capitale marocaine, dans une ambiance de fête pour ce qui est le premier rassemblement de ce type, tant au Maroc que dans le monde arabe et musulman.
La compétition, qui, au-delà même de son aspect sportif, symbolise l'émancipation de la femme marocaine, a été honorée par la présence du Ministre de la Jeunesse et des Sports, Moncef Belkhayat, du Maire de Rabat, du Secrétaire général du Comité national olympique, ainsi que de plusieurs anciens champions marocains et d'un grand nombre de personnalités du monde du sport et de représentants politiques.
Un des points forts de cette année a été le nombre impressionnant d'athlètes participant sous la bannière de "Special Olympics Maroc". On a également pu voir au départ la participation de femmes membres des institutions dépendant de l'Entraide nationale marocaine, de collégiennes et lycéennes de la capitale, d'étudiantes issues d'établissements tant privés que publics ainsi que de représentantes des corps diplomatiques.
Au terme de la course, des prix et trophées ont été remis aux gagnantes des différentes catégories ainsi qu'à la plus jeune des participantes (deux ans!) et à la doyenne de la course, 68 ans. La gagnante de la course des coureuses professionnelles a été Malika Assahsah, devant Zhor El Kamch, seconde.
Pour Bidouane, présidente de l'association "Femmes, réalisations et valeurs", cette édition de la course a pleinement atteint son objectif, celui de rassembler un grand nombre de participantes afin de mettre en valeur l'importance du sport en tant qu'outil d'intégration sociale et professionnelle. Bidouane a expliqué que la manifestation vise également à encourager les femmes à rejoindre les différents mouvements sportifs marocains en général et spécifiquement à contribuer au développement du sport féminin.
Bidouane a déclaré: "Le succès remarquable de cette compétition nous encourage à redoubler d'efforts afin d'améliorer encore les éditions à venir." Elle a encore rappelé que l'association va organiser d'autres courses pour les femmes, à Chefchaouen (le 9 mai) puis à Fès (le 23 mai), ainsi qu'une autre course à Laayoune, dont la date reste à définir.
L'association de Bidouane organise des actions caritatives et s'occupe d'enfants malades et en difficulté, ainsi que de leurs familles, et gère la scolarisation d'enfants sous-privilégiés et l'organisation de manifestations sportives.
