Some of the greatest stars of Olympic history were present at the Association Sports Press Association (AIPS) press event held today in conjunction with Laureus.
The Casa Italia Torino 2006 at the Grand Chalet Hotel in Kifisia, Athens, was packed out with written journalists, radio and TV media for AIPS’ Olympic Games Press reception. Literally you could not get in the door, and those who did squeeze in sweltered in the heat.
There was also the heat of expectation as the guest list was more than impressive including IAAF President Lamine Diack, and a long list of Olympic champions from the past and present.
Athletics Legends such as Kip Keino, Sebastian Coe, Nawal El Moutawakel, Sergey Bubka, Haile Gebrselassie were among others joined at this ‘Spirit of Sport World Press Event’ by Athens champions Felix Sanchez and Olga Kuzenkova.
With all due respect to such illustrious names from Athletics, drawing most eyes was Romanian’s famous Olympic gymnast Nadi Comaneci.
All in all, it was a very memorable step down memory lane, held just a few kilometres away from the Athens Olympic stadium.
