One-week-to-go to IAAF Diamond League – International TV Coverage + Doha Timetable and Top Names

MonteCarloThe inaugural season the IAAF Diamond League is now only a week away. On Friday 14 May, the Qatar Sports Club Stadium in Doha, Qatar will play host to the opening fixture of the 2010 IAAF Diamond League calendar of 14 meetings.

Graced by the presence of many of the world’s best athletes next week’s meeting in the Qatar Sports Club Stadium has lined up an exciting two and half hour timetable of world class action which will blast the IAAF Diamond League out of the blocks for the first time.

The IAAF Diamond League is the new top-tier of the sport’s one-day competition circuit. A global series for the first time, with competitions in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the USA, the television coverage secured by broadcasting partner IMG for the IAAF Diamond League mirrors that international reach and meets one of the strategic goals of the IAAF which is to enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics.

The IAAF Diamond League presents an easy to understand concept offering, world class sport and entertainment, a maximum number of competition opportunities for a maximum number of athletes across 32 different events, and prize money totalling more than US$6 million.

NEWS FLASH – IAAF Diamond League Ambassadors Sanya Richards (quadriceps injury) and Kenenisa Bekele have today both been declared unfit to compete in Doha, but are expected to make a full recovery and take their place very soon in the IAAF Diamond League 2010.
