Organisers of the Paavo Nurmi Games have announced that Olympic javelin champion Thomas Rohler will return to the IAAF World Challenge meeting in Turku on 13 June.

The German has fond memories of last year’s meeting in the Finnish city as it was where he added almost two metres to his PB with a world-leading 91.28m, breaking the meeting record in the process.

The knowledgeable local crowd will be keen to welcome back the Olympic champion in one of the country’s favourite athletics disciplines as he takes on Finland’s best throwers.

Rohler is the latest top name to be revealed for the meeting, following the recent announcement that pole vault world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie will compete in Turku.
