On 27 August, no fewer than 27 medallists from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be competing at the Stade de France for the Meeting de Paris, the French leg of the IAAF Diamond League.
In addition to the eight Olympic champions announced earlier this week, the organisers have added a ninth in the form of Olympic high jump champion Ruth Beitia. The Spaniard will take on Bulgaria’s Mirela Demireva, who took the silver medal in Rio.
Other recent additions include world 200m champion Dafne Schippers, who will line up against Elaine Thompson in the 200m, and Olympic decathlon silver medallist Kevin Mayer, who will contest the javelin.
