Jamaican Asafa Powell, the joint World record holder for the men’s 100m heads a star studded line-up for the men’s dash on Saturday 8 July in the Stade de France for the second leg of the IAAF Golden League 2006.

On 11 June, Powell, who is running the 200m in this weekend’s Jamaican national championships (24/25 June), equalled the World 100m record time of 9.77 seconds - which he already shared with USA’s Justin Gatlin - when winning the IAAF World Athletics Tour meeting in Gateshead, UK.

At the Meeting Gaz de France Paris Saint-Denis in the French capital in a fortnight’s time Powell will take on 2003 World champion Kim Collins of St Kitts and Nevis, USA’s Olympic 200m gold medallist Shawn Crawford, and the French record holder Ronald Pognon.

Also racing will be World Championship silver medallist Michael Frater, who in Powell’s absence took the Jamaican national 100m crown yesterday (24) in Kingston, and Ghana’s Aziz Zakari, a World Championship finalist last year.
