World and Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will make her first ever appearance at the Stadtwerke Ratingen Mehrkampf-Meeting when she competes at the IAAF Combined Events Challenge competition on 25-26 June.

The 30-year-old Briton had been hoping to compete at the Hypo-Meeting in Gotzis last weekend, but a minor hamstring set-back forced her to withdraw from the competition in the Austrian city earlier this month. It will be her only heptathlon before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

“We are very proud that Jessica Ennis-Hill has committed to compete in Ratingen,” said DLV event director Marco Buxmann. “It also gives the German heptathletes a great challenge ahead of the Olympics.”

Germany’s Carolin Schafer, who finished third in Gotzis last weekend with a PB of 6557, will be among Ennis-Hill’s opponents in Ratingen, along with Olympic silver medallist Lilli Schwarzkopf, 2009 world silver medallist Jennifer Oeser and Claudia Rath.
