The queen of sport is already knocking on our door. An event for the world's best athletes is scheduled for the period between 18 and 20 March 2022, when the World Athletics Indoor Championships Belgrade 22 will be held under the roof of the Stark Arena.
It will soon be possible to buy tickets for the biggest sports spectacle ever organised in the region. The official partner for selling tickets for this global athletics gathering is the Tickets company on the website tickets.rs.
Serbia and the city of Belgrade will host more than 1000 athletes, coaches and officials from more than 150 countries in the world. The biggest names – champions of the queen of sport from every meridian – will compete for world titles in our city, and there will be, among others, the world pole vault record-holder Mondo Duplantis, the 2016 world indoor 1500m champion Sifan Hassan, the Tokyo Olympic Games 400m hurdles bronze medallist Femke Bol and two-time Olympic shot put gold medallist and world record-holder Ryan Crouser.
Athletics, being the foundation and starting point of all sports, continues the tradition of organising big competitions in the city lying at the confluence of two rivers, in our Belgrade. More than half a century ago, Belgrade was the host of the fourth European Indoor Games, at the best queen of sport arena of the time, even though it was improvised in the Hall 1 of the Belgrade Fair. Excellent sports venues brought us three world records and a decision that starting from 1970, European Athletics Indoor Championships would be held.
Nine years ago, our country was the SPAR European Cross Country Championships host, while more than four years ago it hosted the best athletes from the continent at the European Athletics Indoor Championships. This competition organisation, according to many experts, brought an array of novelties which became standards for the following championships.
We believe that the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2022 will move all boundaries and become the synonym for quality, efficiency and hospitality when it comes to World Athletics events.
