As in the men's race, the women's relay was no surprise. Dominating from the outset, the Russian quartet cruised to a 3:24.91 win, the fourth fastest indoor performance ever.

Tatyana Levina began things with a 51.66 opening leg, while Natalya Nazarova put the race out of reach after her 51.16 second leg.  400m champion Olesya Krasnomovets ran the fastest split, a 50.69 in the third leg, before Natalya Antyukh polished things off with a 51.40 let.

Anchor Mary Danner's powerful homestretch performance propelled the United States squad to the silver medal, their 3:28.63 edging Belarus by just two one-hundredths.

Poland also dipped under 3:29.00, their 3:28.95 setting a new national record. Jamaica's 3:29.54 for fifth was also a national record.
