World Champion Blom centre stage in the market place – IAAF World Athletics Tour

Hengelo, The NetherlandsTwo days before the 25th edition of the Thales FKB-Games (Fanny Blankers-Koen Games), an IAAF Grand Prix status meeting as part of the IAAF World Athletics Tour 2007, which takes place on Saturday 26 May 2007 in the Dutch town of Hengelo, a demonstration men’s Pole Vault competition will be held in the town’s market place.

The star of the show on Thursday 24 May will of course be the Netherlands’ World championship winning exponent of the vault, Rens Blom (5.81m PB).

From 19.30 till 21.00hrs Blom, who won his global title in Helsinki in 2005, will compete with USA’s Jeff Hartwig, the Area record holder with a 6.03m personal best, two German high flying aces Lars Börgeling (5.85m PB) and Fabian Schulze (5.81m PB), as well as three more Dutch athletes Laurens Looije, Christian Tamminga and Robert-Jan Jansen.

The organizers (FBK Games, City of Hengelo, DSM sponsor of Rens Blom and others) expect a huge crowd for the demonstration event as the Market that evening will also be the location for the finish of a fun run.
