Beita captains Spanish team for Portland

Fifteen athletes will represent Spain at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Portland 2016 from 17-20 March.

Spain’s sole medal winner in Sopot two years ago, team captain Ruth Beitia will be wearing the Spanish vest for the 60th time. The 36-year-old high jumper, who also took bronze in 2006 and silver in 2010, will tie the record for most World Indoor Championships appearances, which is currently held by Maria Mutola at nine.

Several winners from the recent Spanish Indoor Championships also feature on the team, including 400m sprinter Lucas Bua, middle-distance runner Manuel Olmedo, triple jumper Pablo Torrijos, shot putter Carlos Tobalina and triple jumper Ana Peleteiro.
