World long jump champion Malaika Mihambo will be one of the top names at the Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe on 31 January, but the German star won’t be contesting her specialist event at the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting.

Instead, Mihambo will test her speed by lining up for the 60m. The 25-year-old is no slouch on the track, having clocked a 100m PB of 11.21 this year, plus a marginally wind-assisted 11.13.

Mihambo dominated the long jump in 2019, winning all of her outdoor competitions and surpassing the seven-metre mark in seven of those appearances.

Her season peaked at the World Championships in Doha, where she sailed out to a world-leading 7.30m, the best jump by a European woman since 2002.

The Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe is the second of seven stops on the World Athletics Indoor Tour, a series of the world’s best one-day indoor competitions.
