The 3rd IAAF World U20 Coaches Conference will be held at the Sokos Hotel Ilves in Tampere on 15 July.

The programme, which takes place on the morning of the final day of competition at the IAAF World U20 Championships Tampere 2018, begins at 09:00 EEST (GMT/UTC+3) with a media briefing announcing the release of the 2017 World Championships Biomechanics Study findings, and concludes at 13:00.

The keynotes speakers include Romain Meeusen, Head of the Human Physiology Research Group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, and Ville Kallinen, Master of Sport Science and Doctoral Student at Finland's University of Jyväskylä in coaching and fitness testing.

Meeusen's research interests are focused on exercise and the brain in health and disease and the influence of neurotransmitters on human performance, training and rehabilitation. He will present, "What Happens in the brain during exercise?".

Kallinen, who is currently researching children's motivational factors in organised sports participation, will present, "How to prevent 'drop out' in U20 competitive sport".

Q&A sessions will also follow the presentations. The conference will be moderated by Gunter Lange, Senior Manager for Education at the IAAF Development Department.

Unlike previous editions of similar conferences held alongside the World U20 Championships, there is no limit on participation. Member federations may register as many participants as they'd like, while anyone outside of the championships may also attend. Admission is free but advance registration is recommended via email to IAAF Development Department Manager Stéphane Merlino.
