After a 20-year drought, world leader Matija Muhar is aiming to become the second Slovenian to win a global junior title. He already savoured gold on the world stage last year at the World Youth Championships.
Peter Kriel of South Africa wants to spoil a Slovenian party at Hayward Field and join his countryman Marius Corbett, who took the javelin junior title 20 years ago.
Romania’s Raul Rusu, Hungary’s world youth runner-up Norbert Rivasz-Toth, Latvia’s Gatis Cakss and Belgium’s Jarne Duchateau should also be in the mix for the medals.
