In response to recent comments in the Media suggesting that other sports outside cycling are implicated in a doping affair in Spain, which is currently being investigated by Spanish police (“Operation Puerto”), IAAF President Lamine Diack contacted the Spanish Ministry of Sport and has recently received a letter from Mr Jaime Lissavetzky-Diez, Spain’s Minister of Sport.
In this letter, the Minister confirms that his report from Spain’s Guardia Civil, which is the entity carrying out the investigation, does not include any athletes’ names or the identification of any other people except those directly related to the sport of cycling.
