VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION LAUNCHED FOR WCH OREGON22

It is with great excitement that the local organizing committee (LOC) for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 today launches volunteer registration for the event.

Those interested in volunteering for WCH Oregon22 can find more information and a link to register here. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old by the time of the Championships to register.

“If you want to make history and be a part of the biggest track and field event to ever come to the United States, this is your opportunity,” said Sarah Massey, Chief Executive Officer of Oregon22, LLC. “By joining our volunteer program, you will be directly involved in bringing these Championships to life while the eyes of the world are on Oregon. Whether or not you have been involved in the sport in the past, volunteering for this event will be like nothing you have ever experienced before.”

The LOC is seeking the support of more than 1,500 volunteers to be integrated into every aspect of the event as members of WCH Oregon22’s workforce, “Crew22”. Welcoming fans to the stadium, supporting the media, and assisting in the event’s sustainability efforts are just a few of the roles through which Crew22 team members will have an impact on these Championships. By joining Crew22, volunteers will be adding their unique backgrounds and talents to a passionate team that will meaningfully contribute to the success and spirit of this unmissable event.

This is the first time the World Athletics Championships will be hosted on U.S. soil, with one billion viewers turning their attention to Oregon, and Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, in July of 2022. Volunteers will be instrumental in showcasing the pride our community has in staging a global event of this magnitude.

“I know first-hand how the Oregon community shows up for athletes,” said Tokyo Olympic 800m bronze medalist and University of Oregon alum Raevyn Rogers. “It’s the people that make the Hayward Magic come alive. None of what happens on the track would be possible without the hard work of all the volunteers behind the scenes.”

There are many ways to get involved with WCH Oregon22. Be a part of history by registering to be a volunteer today!
