After changing coaches, IAAF Diamond League Ambassador Valerie Adams competed in Shanghai and is now looking forward her New York appearance...

“Hi All,

“Well this is my first online Diary for 2010 and I am writing this from Shanghai.

“A bit of an update as to what’s been happening, I now have a new coach Didier Poppe and also my Strength Coach Mike McGuigan. I have been training with the boys for 2 months now and so far it’s been going really well and I am enjoying it all. Change is always good and looking forward to the season ahead.

“I am very honoured to be a Diamond League Ambassador and also happy to be competing at the first comp for Women’s Shot-put this weekend in Shanghai. We have a great line up of throwers including Ostapchuk so it will be a good competition. Also a good opportunity for me to try out my new changes I have made.

“Weather here is ok warm and smoggy but it will be great tomorrow night, the LOC always puts on a good show at the Shanghai Grand Prix and the crowed is fantastic.

(Vili competed in Shanghai on Sunday where she threw 19.72m for second place.)

“My next stop after this is Taiwan then to New York, I am looking forward to both these meets as I have never been to these cities and I think it will be great fun.

“Well that’s my lot for now till next time.

Ciao

Val
