On the occasion of 600 days until the World Athletics Championships (WCH) Oregon22, the event’s local organising committee has revealed its new logo and launched its website, social media channels, and overarching brand identity.

The WCH Oregon22 will be an unmissable global event taking place in the United States for the very first time. The best track and field athletes in the world will come together in a celebration of diversity, human potential, and athletic achievement.

"Our mission is to offer the best of all worlds to athletes, fans, and media attending and watching from every part of the globe,” said Niels de Vos, Executive Director of WCH Oregon22. “It will be the ultimate track and field experience, showcasing the State of Oregon and the sport to an unprecedented global audience.”

This extraordinary showcase will take centre stage in the heart and home of track and field in the US. Built to serve athletes and fans, the recently reimagined Hayward Field at the University of Oregon is a world-class theatre for the sport. The front row of seating comes right up to the outside lane of the track, immersing spectators and competitors in the electric atmosphere for which the site is famous.

“USATF’s mission is to drive competitive excellence and popular engagement in our sport,” said Max Siegel, CEO of USATF. “Team USATF looks forward to welcoming the world to our country and Hayward Field. Our talented athletes are set to inspire people of all ages.”

The new logo takes inspiration from the wooden rib-like bents that support the dramatic roof and surround Hayward Field. The bold colours were strategically chosen to represent the global, national, and local communities that will converge on 15-24 July 2022.

The purple outmost rib celebrates the diversity of the global audience and the international nature of this prestigious event. The blue rib represents the nation in a proud acknowledgement of the world’s No.1 team: Team USA. The green honours Oregon and the magnificence of the state’s lush natural resources and eco-conscious culture. Finally, the innermost red conveys the passion that defines Hayward Field. It is the beating heart of the event, the athletes, and the community. From this heart, the stories of the WCH Oregon22 and the magic of Hayward Field will spread across the state, the country, and the globe.

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said the WCH Oregon22 presented “an incredible opportunity for the sport.”

“We are delighted to bring our flagship event to the United States for the first time,” he said. “American athletes have contributed so much to the extraordinary history of athletics and another thrilling chapter will be written when the world comes to Hayward Field. With 2000 athletes from more than 200 countries under the spotlight in one of the largest media markets on the planet, it is sure to be an event like no other.”

The event will draw on the collective efforts of a wide array of partners, including World Athletics, USA Track & Field, the State of Oregon, and the City of Eugene. Travel Oregon has been designated as the official host state and the University of Oregon is an official public institution for the event.

As part of the reveal, the LOC launched its website and social media platforms (on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn).
