IAAF President Sebastian Coe and IAAF Senior Vice President Sergey Bubka attended the ABAF (Association of Balkan Athletics Federations) Congress in Tel Aviv on Monday (19).
There were two main focal points of this year’s congress: the first was the approval of the 2017 Balkan athletics calendar; the second was the IAAF governance reform.
During the strategic development and administration workshop, Coe presented the details of the IAAF’s governance reform and explained the future aims of the organisation.
Kosovo, the newest member of ABAF, will host its first Balkan championship event in 2017. On 14 May, the Kosovan capital Pristina will stage the Balkan Half Marathon Championships.
ABAF also introduced a new event, the Balkan Indoor Junior Championships, which will be held in Istanbul on 11 February 2017.

Le président de l'IAAF, Sebastian Coe, accompagné du premier vice-président, Sergey Bubka, a assisté, lundi (19), au Congrès de l'ABAF (Association des fédérations d'athlétisme des Balkans) à Tel Aviv.
Le Congrès de cette année était articulé autour de deux points centraux : l'adoption du calendrier d'athlétisme 2017 des Balkans et la réforme de la gouvernance de l'IAAF.
Au cours d'un atelier de travail dont le thème était le développement stratégique et l'administration de l'instance, le Président Coe a présenté les détails de la réforme de la gouvernance de l'IAAF et expliqué les objectifs pour l'avenir de l'organisation.
Le Kosovo, le membre le plus récent de l'ABAF, va accueillir sa première épreuve balkanique en 2017, avec l'organisation des Championnats des Balkans de Semi-Marathon, le 14 mai à Pristina, sa capitale.
L'ABAF introduit également une nouvelle compétition, les Championnats des Balkans Juniors en salle, qui auront lieu à Istanbul le 11 février 2017.
