Dahlan Al Hamad will serve for another four years as president of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA).
The news of Al Hamad’s re-election was initially announced back in March, but his presidency was made official on 1 June in the Chinese city of Wuhan during the Asian Athletics Congress.
Du Zhaocai of China was elected unopposed to the post of Senior Vice President. Other vice presidents are Lalit Bhanot from India, Talib F Al-Saffar from Iraq, Alexey Kondrat from Kazakhstan, Philip Ella Juico of Philippines and Suhail Q Al-Zawawi from Saudi Arabia.
Former sprinter Ruqaya Manssor Ebrahim Al-Ghasara of Bahrain and Mala Sakonhninhom of Laos were elected as individual members of the council.
Other individual members elected were Saad Al-Hiasat from Jordan, Mohammad Jumah from Kuweit, Karim Ibrahim of Malaysia, Muhammad Akram Sahi from Paqistan, W Palitha P Fernando from Sri Lanka, Ching Cheng Wang of Chinese Taipei, Nasser Sultan AS AL-Maamari from United Arab Emirates and Hoang Manh Cuong from Vietnam.
"AAA council will continue to work for the development of Athletics in Asia. I am confident of my new team to take on challenges and deliver positive development in the Athletics," said Al Hamad.
Over the past 20 months, Al Hamad has been working on a plan to revamp Asian athletics, focusing on youth programmes and on the creation of a new strategic plan for the continent.

Dahlan Al Hamad officiera encore quatre ans comme président de l'Association d'athlétisme d'Asie (AAA).
Si la réélection d'Al Hamad avait déjà été annoncée en mars, c'est le 1er juin, dans le cadre du Congrès de l'AAA, qui se tenait dans la ville chinoise de Wuhan, que son mandat a débuté officiellement.
Le Chinois Du Zhaocai a pour sa part été élu sans opposition au poste de premier vice-président. Les autres vice-présidents sont Lalit Bhanot, d'Inde, Talib F Al-Saffar, d'Irak, Alexey Kondrat, du Kazakhstan, Philip Ella Juico, des Philippines, et Suhail Q Al-Zawawi, d'Arabie Saoudite.
Les anciens spécialistes des sprints, Ruqaya Manssor Ebrahim Al-Ghasara, de Bahreïn, et Mala Sakonhninhom, du Laos, ont été élus en tant que membres individuels du Conseil.
Les autres membres individuels élus sont Saad Al-Hiasat, de Jordanie, Mohammad Jumah, du Koweït, Karim Ibrahim, de Malaisie, Muhammad Akram Sahi, du Pakistan, W. Palitha P. Fernando, du Sri Lanka, Ching Cheng Wang, du Taipei chinois, Nasser Sultan AS AL-Maamari, des Etats Arabes Unis, et Hoang Manh Cuong, du Vietnam.
"Le Conseil de l'AAA va continuer à œuvrer pour le développement de l'athlétisme en Asie. J'ai toute confiance que ma nouvelle équipe va relever les défis qui nous attendent et développer l'athlétisme de manière positive," a déclaré Al Hamad.
Ces vingt derniers mois ont vu Al Hamad travailler à la conception d'un projet visant à restructurer l'athlétisme asiatique, notamment autour de programmes pour la jeunesse et de la création d'un nouveau plan stratégique pour le continent.
