Gold MedallistWAMI, Gete (ETH)
"Now I feel tired, happy and tired. The speed in the race was so high. Otherwise it was actually a rather easy competition. My tactics was just to follow Paula Radcliffe and sprint past her in the last round. Everything went as I planned, perfectly. It wasn't very difficult race in terms of the conditions. The humidity was low and that is what counts for me."
Silver Medallist - RADCLIFFE, Paula (GBR)
"The feeling tonight is just such a contrast to a year ago in Budapest (Euro Champs). Here in Seville I felt relaxed and physically well, there in Budapest I felt awful in all ways. Tonight, even though I was pushing the pace along quicker and quicker, I still felt strong. The last 4km was hard but I thought if I'm hurting so is everyone else".
Bronze Medallist - LOROUPE, Tegla (KEN)
"Originally I was not in the Kenyan team for these championships, I don't know why, I just wasn't selected. However, I thought I'm not going to lose hope and I'll just continue my training and aim for the Berlin marathon. However, suddenly I was in the Kenyan team and I must thank the world governing body for their consideration. This medal is for me so important, it tells all the young Kenyan women not to give up hope. It will encourage them all to reach the top like I have done. Considering that last year was the Year of the women (IAAF)what better example is there to set the young women of my country, than my performance this evening."
