World Records Ratified

20 April 2000 - Monte Carlo - The following performances have been officially ratified as new World Records by the International Amateur Athletic Federation:

Junior Men

3000m 7:34.58 Sammy Kipketer 81 KEN Brussels 3 Sep 1999

Kipketer’s performance in Brussels improved on his previous World Record mark of 7:35.08, set in Paris on 21 July 1999, prior to this, the Record was held by Kipketer’s compatriot Philip Mosima, with 7:35.52, clocked in London on 12 July 1996.

Indoor Women

Pole Vault 4.62 Stacy Dragila USA Atlanta 3 Mar 2000

World Champion Stacy Dragila achieved this mark after clearing 4.61 in an earlier meeting in Pocatello on 19 February. The previous pole vault World Indoor Record belonged to Germany’s Nicole Rieger-Humbert , with a clearance of 4.56 (Stockholm, 25 Feb 1999).

Indoor Men

4 x800m Relay 7:13.94 (Joey Woody, Karl Paranya, Rich Kenah, David Krummenacker) USA Boston 6 Feb 2000

The previous World Record in this rarely run event had been held since March 1971 by the USSR team of Valeriy Taratynov, Stanislav Meshcherskikh, Alexey Taranov, Viktor Semyashkin, with a timing of 7:17.8.
